High-Point English Horse

High-Point English HorseThe 2014 World Show was all good for All Rise, and he captures the High-Point English Horse title. It’s never too late to try something new, and for All Rise, the 2014 APHA World Championship Show was the perfect place to put his newfound skills to the test.

A veteran world champion in hunter under saddle—he won his third consecutive title in Junior Hunter Under Saddle and his second championship in Classic Amateur Junior Hunter Under Saddle at this year’s show—the 2009 brown overo gelding broke out of his comfort zone to try his hand at hunter hack, pleasure driving, equitation and showmanship.

“It was his first time to ever do the jumping at a show, and his first time in a cart at this show,” owner Jennifer Schexnayder of New Roads, Louisiana, said. “ 'Spyder' has such a busy mind. I couldn’t ask him to do one rail class his whole life.”

Piloted to a world championship in Junior Hunter Hack by Nada Wise, Spyder got off to a great start early in the show. He followed it up a few days later with a win in Junior Hunter Under Saddle with trainer Shane Christensen. A fourth-place in Junior Pleasure Driving with trainer Chad Christensen brought their overall tally to 52 points at the show—enough to clinch the High-Point English Horse award.

“We were really surprised,” Jennifer said. “We never thought that winning the hunter under saddle and the hack would put us on top. He went around great and we got our name called, so I was thrilled with that.”
