Brawley FarmsAfter years of planning, owners Bob and Dana Brawley were pleased to announce a move to their brand new facility last spring.

Located in Double Oak, Texas, Brawley Farms sits on nearly twenty acres of pristine landscaped grounds. Bob, Dana, and their clients had eagerly anticipated this move and are now enjoying all the amenities the expansive new farm has to offer.

The Facility

Brawley Farms offers a list of amenities that are important for happy horses and riders. The large indoor arena is attached to a spacious barn with 25 permanent matted box stalls, eight grooming/wash stalls equipped with a central vacuum system, and a sizeable tack room for clients. The facility also has an outdoor grass derby field as well as ample turnout space so each horse can have hours of daily playtime. Clients, friends, and family enjoy watching both the ring and the field from a climate-controlled observation lounge which also offers Wi-Fi access. The trainers and staff at Brawley Farms live on location and provide round-theclock surveillance and security.

The Program

Bob used his mother’s business as a template when he was setting up his own barn. Judy Brawley still trains clients at her farm in Oregon and some of her students have been with her for a quarter of a century or more. Bob was her first student at age five and trained with her until he was 43. Building a similar loyal client ‘family’ is important to Bob so Brawley Farms offers both a lesson program as well as a full training program.

The Brawley program is designed to help riders and horses meet their specific objectives through a combination of lessons and professional rides. Their comprehensive, full-service training program provides juniors and amateurs hunter, jumper, and equitation training for all levels of competition.

Individual programs are designed for each horse/rider based on a goal-oriented approach.

"My mother’s training business was really the model for what we’ve built over the years. Some people believe that if you focus on the hunters, you can’t be just as good in the jumpers or equitation divisions. We’ve really seen an equal amount of success in all rings with different levels of riders,” Bob explained.

The lesson program at Brawley Farms enables riders of all levels to receive instruction on safe and reliable school horses. The staff focuses on teaching strong basic fundamentals with the intention of creating confident and well-prepared riders. The Brawley mission is to create horsemen/women who respect the horses and have an in-depth understanding of the responsibility involved in riding and horse care.

The Care

At Brawley Farms, keeping the horses fit, healthy, and happy is their number one priority. Supplies are provided as part of the comprehensive program, and the Brawley staff coordinates all vet, dentist, chiropractor, and farrier visits.

Their program includes professional grooming (basic or full), daily turn outs, lunging/rigging, blanketing, stall cleaning, quality feed, and show preparation.

And speaking of show prep, horse show entries, show office closeouts, adds/scratches, braiding coordination/payments, and membership renewals are handled by the Brawley Farms staff so that clients can focus their attention solely on enjoying their horses.

Amateur rider Keyea Webster jumped at the chance to praise both the program and the team. “For me, as an adult getting back into this sport after many years off, Brawley Farms couldn’t be a better fit. The facility is beautiful, but more importantly the people and the training are top of the line. I was able to get back into the show ring quickly, with success, build confidence and have fun all at the same time. We put so much time into this sport and love our horses so much, being somewhere that offers all those qualities is a must!”

The Results

Their 2015 show season included many achievements as multiple championship ribbons were brought home from every show attended. As Bob pointed out, their success spans across the hunter, equitation, and jumper rings. At the well-known Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, Keyea Webster and The Heist were champions in the High Adult Jumper division, and Jessica Brady won a championship cooler in the Low Junior Hunter division aboard Memphis. At the Tyler Four series, the Brawley team brought home five circuit championships, a win in the USHJA National Hunter Derby, top finishes in the USHJA International Hunter Derby, a win in the Welcome Prix, and a second place finish in the $25,000 Show Jumping Classic Grand Prix.

Their hot streak continued in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the barn brought home 17 tri-colors over the three-week period. Most notably, Diane DeMatteo swept the Modified Adult Hunters taking champion and reserve on her horses Amadeo and Trentino while Delaney Torti and Giselle captured tricolors in the Amateur Owner Hunters, won the classic, and teamed up with Bob to win the Pro/Am Challenge class.

The season was capped off with the Brawley Farms team earning year-end championships in the Adult Equitation, the High Adult Jumpers, the Adult Amateur Hunters, and the First Year Green Hunters in the Texas Hunter Jumper Association (THJA) and the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Zone 7.

The Road Ahead

The team looks forward to a busy 2016 show season. Bob focuses on finding events that fit the Brawley ‘family’ so each year they try new shows while also returning to their favorite spots. This year’s calendar includes trips to Florida, Kentucky, New Mexico, Tennessee, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania as well as a number of Texas horse shows.

While there is quite a bit of traveling, the Brawleys are experienced globe-trotters. For more than 30 years, Brawley Farms has provided high quality, safe, and reliable horse transportation to its clients.

Their air ride van features well-bedded stalls that can be adjusted into single, double, or box stall configurations. An in-cab closed circuit video system enables continuous monitoring of the horses while in transit, and the van makes frequent stops so the horses can be visually inspected.

With its beautiful lakeside surroundings, Brawley Farms in Double Oak offers each client the opportunity to achieve their personal best at home or on the road. From beginner lessons to grand prix aspirations, an unparalleled equestrian experience awaits.
